The Damsel wandered into the hospital, feeling curious. It had been, what, five years since she had walked though the halls of a human hospital, and that one was long abandoned. This was the new, well to her, hospital of Cardiff. She paused at the front desk, smiling at the young looking lady, around 20 years old maybe? She showed her physic paper, which at the moment said that Rosabela Carter was a health and safety inspector. The lady waved her in, with a nice smile and nod. Trying to win over the ‘inspector’. Nothing had changed much in five years then… She walked though a burn ward, looking at the occupants with sorrowful eyes. But she felt most sorry for the young girl who laid on a white bed, burnt head to toe, with her parents sitting by her side, not able to comfort her by touch, only by words.
After walking though the rest of the ground floor, she headed to the basement, wondering what was in there. After ten minutes, she came along what seemed to be a tin man. She studied him for a moment. His eyes were closed, arms tight by his side, slouching a bit. She reached out and softly touched him, on the shoulder, with her left hand, watching his face. A moment after she touched his shoulder, his eyes opened and his position straightened. The Damsel gasp, jumping back a foot, her eyes wide in shock. It looked at her with deep empty black eyes and said in a odd metallic voice. “Time lord.” The Damsel gasped, softly, wondering how it knew, wondering if she should ask it. She lifted her hand to her throat, holding her necklace, a cherry on a silver chain. "What are you?" She asked, her voice sounding confused and shocked. The reply was,"A cyberman. The future of the human race." The Damsel turned, slightly as she heard giggling getting closer and closer, leading up to a girl and guy coming around the corner snogging. The girl pulled away, as she spotted The Damsel and the cyberman, pointing a finger at them, which made the guy turn around. The cyberman's head turned towards the new-comers. His eyes scanned them. "You are incompatible. Delete." Its metallic voice spoke, a hand reaching out to the guy. As metal hand touched flesh shoulder, the guy shuddered as if a electric shock had gone though him. His scream ended when he turned into a pile of dust that landed on the floor in a small heap. The girl looked at the dust quickly, before running back the way she had came from. The Damsel looked at the pile of dust for a heartbeat, before turning her shocked, but mostly anger gaze back to the cyberman, her mouth a tiny o of horror. "Why.... did.... you....do....that?[/]" She asked her voice angry and accusing, just like her glare, which flickered back and forth between robot looking creature and dust pile. The metallic reply was, "He was incompatible."

Carlie was listening, just a little bit about what her old friend and class mate, Meg, was telling her. She had picked up the phone, just as she was coming down the 'invisible lift', as Jack liked to call it. She had walked over to her desk, noting that she couldn't see Kastiel, and he wasn't at his desk, which was right by hers. Her desk was in between Kas's, of course, and Jack's. She had her feet up, and was munching on some hot chips, with extra salt, hoping Jack wouldn't tell her off. "You are the fourth person I have called, tried to call you earlier, but no answer. But anyway, I was at the hospital, in the basement, like minutes ago, and there was this girl and like a tin man, or robot." Meg was explaining. Carlie's eyebrows rose, as her old friend mentioned that she was in the basement, a place, even staff members weren’t meant to go. "And may I ask what you were doing down there?" Carlie asked her friend, kindly, trying not to sound too noisy. Her friend sighed, sounding like she had not wanted to go into detail. "I was down there with John Stanley. But anyway, the tin man thing reached out and touched John and John turned to dust. Btu before that he said something about us not being compatible and deleting. But as John was turned to dust I ran for my life. They looked like the things from canary wharf." Meg told Carlie, making Carlie sit up in her chair, almost losing all her chips. Ianto would totally thank her for that.... "Have you called the cops?" Carlie asked, and a murmured no came though. "Don't. I got to go okay, bye." She spoke, quickly before hanging up. She jumped up, after carefully placing her chips on her desk, avoiding making a mess. She wanted to make Ianto happy. Happy Ianto equals good coffee. She ran over to Jack's office, stopping at the door, and knocking five times. "Jack... Ummmm... Small issue." She murmured, leaning against the door frame as she waited for Jack to open the door.

[shadow=Navy,left,300]Captain Jack Harkness[/shadow] ...The impossible thing... Jack almost never slept, part of this was because he found he did not need to. There were so many things about him now that were unnatural, shouldn’t be. Maybe one day, he would find the right sort of doctor, one that could tell his what he had become. Until that day, however, he would keep his secrets close and do what needs to be done. The world could well be in danger, in could be in the brink of destruction, and he could not yet find what it was in this century that he had his team had to be so weary of. Some people might say it was a good thing, but all he could think of was the calm before the storm. Torchwood had new members... they had lost valuable, trained people recently, and now were trusted two people, entirely new to this, to watch there backs. Maybe it was a good thing they didn’t yet know what was or could be out there... right now, they could train. They could continue to prepare themselves and the human race for the future. Torchwood was the first and last line of defence in this world. They were outside the government, and beyond the police. Torchwood... had to be Ready. He sat up in his strange bed, jumping out the small opening that showed up in his office, grabbing his favourite jacket and thrusting it almost carelessly through his arms. I look at his watch – Not his wrist watch, however, told him that it was still early morning. He moved toward his desk, shuffling through the paper-work. He hadn’t seen Ianto for a day or two, and already his belongings were suffering because of it. He knew there favourite coffee boy would show up soon enough. In the mean time, he dug through the mess on his desk for a certain piece of paper. Grabbing it and pulling it free, he took a seat and began to scan through it. It was a report from the police station Gwen use to work at. Typical of her, she still couldn’t let go. She had found an interesting read, however, and he found his fingers tapping across the desk as he read through the sheet. He threw it back on the desk after a moment, shaking his head, before slumping it into his hands, elbows on the desk holding it up. What was with the weevils? Something was aggravating or scaring them. He just hadn’t figured out the what yet. Maybe if... Owen had still been around, the guy was a pain and a mess up, but Jack still missed him, and every other soul he had ever lost through this job and his curse. If Owen had still been about, he could have gone straight into the dens of the Weevils and they would have moved out of his way. Ever since he died, and Jack had been forced to face the fact that it was his fault that this had happened. He had gone pretty mad, he himself had stepped through sleeping Weevils to uncover the second glove, to bring back Owen, just for a moment, and find that it was permanent... But then again, there might be nothing to find, maybe it was the weevils crazy other sense. Maybe they were just panicking, maybe they knew what was out there...
Jack almost jumped as a knock sounded on his door, followed by Carlie’s voice. Strange... he hadn’t even heard her come down. Damnit, he was losing his edge. There was once a time were no one could surprise Jack, or get the upper hand. He rose from his desk and moved almost silently to the door. Pulling it open he leaned against the side, crossing his legs and beaming her a grin. He looked as laid back as ever... after all, it never did to scare the others with his worries. But they must be Ready... he dismissed that worry from his mind, his grin still holding steady as he looked at her. Carlie, the newest member to Torchwood. Easily the sweetest one yet, so much heart, so little training. Why had he chosen her to join Torchwood... was it only because the memory drug never worked on her? Was it really just to protect there secrets? Somehow he thought that maybe there was more to it... who knows, maybe she would save there lives one day. “You were asking for a Captain?” He joked to her, knowing full well she had said ‘Jack’ and not ‘Captain’ “How can I help you Carlie?” He then asked, moving a step back from the door way to invite her into his office. Carlie didn’t jump when the door opened, as she had been watching it; she just beamed a soft, warm grin at the person who had stood there now, Captain Jack Harkness. He was leaning on the side of the door, legs crossed, grinning at her, rather casual. She smiled a tiny bit more when he joked about her asking for a captain, which made her blush a little, just a little. Though deep in her mind, she was asking, what was that all about? He asked how he can help her, and moved from the door way, inviting her in. Carlie moved into the office, the soft smile on her lips faded away, replaced by a frown as she had her back turned to Jack, as she remembered why she had came to talk to him, her eyes studying his messy desk. “Morning. Sleep well?” Carlie murmured after she moved past Jack, going and leaning on his desk, looking at the floor, still faint traces of blush on her cheeks, fading by the second. She bit her lip. They had to do something about the problem at the hospital, but she didn’t know where to begin. And what to see full stop.“Well, just like moments ago, an old friend, a colleague, from the hospital called me to tell me what happened to her. She said that she had gone down to the basement, with some guy. Don’t ask why….” Carlie frowned even more, giving Jack a quick glance, looking away just as quick. She didn’t like what her friend did, and she didn’t want to explain it to Jack. The other things her friend had told her were more important. She looked back at Jack, at his deep blue eyes, maybe to get something which would make her explaining the next bit easy from them. She bit her lip more; she was hoping it was not the thing from the battle of Canary Wharf, which Jack had told her about once, on a quiet day. “She said that there was a strange woman and what appeared to be a tin man… And the ‘tin man’ saw them and said something about incompatible and delete, and touched the guy she was with and… killed him. She said it was still in the hospital. She also said something about the voice being metallic-ish. What do you think it is? The things from Canary Wharf, the cybermen? What shall we do?” Carlie asked Jack, looking at him, with trusting eyes, she trusted him a lot. The only person in the whole universe she trusted more than the Captain was Kastiel, who was pretty much her closest and most trusted friend, she had ever had.

[shadow=Navy,left,300]Captain Jack Harkness[/shadow] ...The impossible thing... As Jack stepped aside, giving room for the newest, and sweetest member of Torchwood to enter his, sadly rather messy office. He still was yet to catch site of Ianto... it worries him. Sure, maybe the guy normally was hard to see... there own little invisible helper. You noticed what he left behind more then anything else. The coffee... the cleaning, the constant, constant cleaning. The dry and somehow rather cute remarks... the easy going eyes and serious expression. The... no, wait a second, he was getting off track here. He hardly even blinked as he carefully re-wined his thought track to there missing coffee-boy. Before... the other thoughts about him, anyway. Ianto hadn’t called in sick yet, and Jack decided – so long as nothing pressing demanded his attention, he would pay the man a visit and see what was what. Pressing... right. Jack guessed it was rather a good thing the others didn’t know just how easily brought off track he was. For he never let it show through his hard, serious blue gaze. There was to much at stack here, so long as they thought he was on track, so long as they looked up to him. He could keep things together. His smile was gentle and easy as the girl gave an unsure blush. Maybe it was somewhat hard on those around him that he ‘flirted’ just a little too easily with everything that moved. Not that he was flirting, as such. It was just his way of speaking. Somehow... he was sure Kastiel would kill him a few times over if he broke this girl’s heart. Not that he broke hearts as such... that had been Owen’s job, after all. He gave an almost cheesy grin, unable to help himself as he dropped a wink to the girl as she spoke of her friend a little deeper in the hospital then she should have been – and with a man, you didn’t need to be a genius (Even through he was one) To understand what that meant! He grew far... far more serious as she began to speak, however. The colour seemed to fade from his face and a few essential key words, the ones he really clung to, and wanted to throw aside with all his heart. ‘Cybermen, canary wharf, delete, kill’ The only thing that Jack couldn’t understand in her words, was the slight mention of a strange girl with the cyberman. Chances were, however, that it was just some power-crazy human working alongside the murderous machine for its own personal gain. He gritted his teeth together at the mere thought. Certainly the woman would get the shock of her life when this cyberman didn’t need her anymore. Not that that mattered... the only thing that mattered now was getting rid of it.
The last time, Jack realised with a familiar pain in his stomach – coming from somewhere his heart presumably was as he – that the last cyberman they had encountered was a rather loose definition of the word. It had been a woman, and not just any woman, it had, before the transformation, been the girl-friend of there beloved coffee boy. That had been a heart-breaking day for all of them, Ianto Jones had finally been forced to face the reality that he had lost the woman he loved. And then finally, she looked at him with this trusting, gentle eyes of hers. God, what had he been thinking... she was too innocent for this job. At least Gwen had come from the police... at least Kastiel had been an alien. “Alright... Carlie, I need you to round up the others and meet me there, you got that? Don’t forget your air-piece, and grab the most destructive gun you can find. Forget about the stuns, they will do nothing for you here” He told her, or maybe a better word was ordered. His eyes were stern and almost unforgiving, swirling in that lonely blue. He did not want her to get hurt, and in this case, the best he could do was arm her with allies and weapons. This being said, he dashed from his office, half skidding as he turned around to regard her once more. “Oh yeah... and where is this?” He continued, quickly revising his plans. With out Ianto, it would be harder then normal. Ianto was the one who phoned the others, prepared there stuff, drove them around. “Even better, I’ll drive, you point. We can call the others on the way, now come on – we got somewhere to be” He ordered her, already making for the front exit.

Carlie shook her head softly, barely noticable as after she told Jack about her friend, and he winked and smiled. She didn't want to think about her old friends and work, as she was scared it would make her want to leave Torchwood or feel gulity about leaving her old work. The first one was the wrost one in her case. She loved working for Torchwood and with Jack, Ianto, Gwen and most of all Kas. Carlie watched Jacks facial expression as she told him what she had heard. She slightly saw that the colour in his face faded. She knew what that meant, she was right, it was a cyberman. He told her to round up the others and get a weapon. A destructive one..... Then he changed the plans suddenly. She raced towards the weaponary, grabbing a weapon which she knew was quite destructive. She then raced towards the way Jack had gone. She pressed the button on her ear-piece quickly. "Ianto, Gwen, Kas, ASP to the Cardiff emergancy hospital. Cyberman in basement..." She trailed off, unsure what else to say. As she reached Jack she frowned softly. Jack had told her a bit about the cyberman. She knew that they wasn't many weapons that could kill one. She hoped into the SVU, pulling out her cellphone, texting the team a quick text message, saying what she said though the earpiece. She was hoping that at least Kas would get one of the messages and come to their aid. Maybe Ianto and Gwen would get her text and appear for the first time for a while. "So... when will I get sick of following you around?" She joked, turning to face Jack, with a soft smile. Most of her time spent in Torchwood so far was following the Captain around. Either that or training with the Captain or writing up files, mainly about weevils. Though she hadn't got bored of it yet. Following the Captain had a few perks. His dry humour and his never-ending wisdom, that was always giving Carlie something new to think about, was only a two of the few. Sometimes she would love to know what was going though Jack's mind. But she thought it would be awkard to just go up to him, and ask 'What are you thinking?' And maybe she might not want to know what he was thinking.... She frowned, she felt very tried suddenly in dire need of Ianto's coffee. She had been missing him and his wonderful coffee so much. She could see the hub getting messier and messier, espically Jack's office. She wondered why Jack wasn't trying to find him and Gwen, them being the trained forces of Torchwood, while her and Kas were still very new... She wished that Ianto and Gwen could be there right now, as they had most likely dealt with a cyberman and would be able to help Jack. Carlie was worried that she might get in his way and end up getting him or herself hurt, or worse killed....."Turn left at the next set of traffic lights, then go straight ahead, turn right at the fifth set of lights and its on the right... Can't miss it" She spoke quickly, looking out the front window, then back to Jack."So, whats our plan of action, Captain?" Carlie asked, still watching Jack with her dark brown eyes, as she tied her hair back into a plait, which would make it easier for her to see around her when they were on a mission. She was worried about this one though, going back to her old work. Would it make her regret joining Torchwood? She hadn't thought it though much when she joined Torchwood. She guessed she was so happy to be asked, but it had made her leave her old job, and change all her habits and sleeping patterns, mainly.

Dashing through the front exit with Carlie close behind, he caught a glance at the front office, the little display put on as a cover up... to trick others, or however you want to put it. A single leaflet fluttered to the floor from the wind as he threw open the door, holding it open with to fingers as he moved through it, standing just outside to let Carlie pass through before letting it swing shut, the pamphlet gave another, nearly hopeless flutter as through to emphasise just how empty the place now was. He was sure that what ever Ianto and Gwens reason was – it was a good one, but for now he could only speculate and worry. To be able to spare only a half thought to the others was a sad thing indeed, for already his worries for Gwen and Ianto were pushed roughly aside, born from the need to solve this newest mystery... and not to mean the need to prove this whole thing wrong. After all, where there was one cyberman, there was bound to be plenty more, and that was the last thing he wanted. He threw open the front passenger door for Carlie as he moved around to his side and climbed in. Tucking in his seatbelt, the door already closing behind him as he pulled out his keys and turned there heavy vehicle on. Pulling off the hand brake as he reversed out of the parking spot and turned to the not to busy road as Carlies directions already echoed in his ears. Going through the next once that turned green bang on time he turned at the next, the wheels squealing as he ordered a high speed from the SUV. He wasn’t about to be pulled over, as he well knew, and his driving was good enough to keep them safe and get them were thy were going. As he drove on with an almost cold expression he mused over simply driving through the five traffic lights there were heading towards. Maybe he should have asked her to take them the back way... They always wanted to know his plan of action... the team, and he could hardly blame them. It was, after all, the knowing that kept them alive out there. But still, his mind was still flying through ideas... he didn’t know the hospital they were heading to – even through they all kept a similar lay out. Basement was there destination... and they had the cards to get them there without a hitch. Now, if there was only one so far... he should take the brute way, and send Carlie the subtle... “Alright Carlie, I charge in and show my gins, you know the place better... you take the longer way and sneak up behind in case there is any hostages, that way we have a better tacked. (Unfinished)
